Transmigration: A Plan to Save My Lovely Wife and Adorable Child
Chapter 135 – Secretary?
"President Gu! Xiyao-jie! Good morning~"
After half a month of renovations, Xingyao Entertainment had finally taken shape.
As soon as Gu Xingyi and Xia Xiyao stepped through the front door, the newly hired receptionist girl immediately stood up with a bright smile on her face and greeted them.
"Good morning!"
Gu Xingyi replied with a smile. That girl seemed to be named Li Wenjing? She really looked quiet and gentle—just like her name suggested. Not bad.
Receiving Gu Xingyi's response, Li Wenjing's face lit up even more. Ever since she saw the Xingyao Entertainment job posting, she had applied right away. She had even made thorough preparations for the interview, though she still worried whether she'd make it or not.
After all, getting to work at her idol's company and seeing them every day—how could that not be happiness?
Now, aside from the space used by Xingyao Animation, the company had ten break rooms, ten recording studios, five offices, and one large meeting room.
The basic facilities were all in place. The company's logo had also been designed and was now displayed on the large sign outside.
Of course, compared to the bigger entertainment companies, it was still a bit modest, but for now, Gu Xingyi was more than satisfied.
"Huh~ You guys are here pretty early, huh?"
"Hehe! Gu-dage! Xiyao-jie! Good morning!"
Just as Gu Xingyi and Xia Xiyao were about to walk inside, two female voices came from the entrance.
"Mornin'~"
"Deputy Director Yang, Cheng Di, you're here early too!"
Turning around, they saw Yang Chenglin and Cheng Di walking in from outside. Cheng Di bounced over and latched onto Xia Xiyao's arm.
"Xiyao-jie, it's only been a few days, but you've put on a little weight again!"
"No way~"
Xia Xiyao's pretty face turned slightly red. She had indeed gained a little weight. She'd been staying home a lot lately, and Gu Xingyi's cooking was just too delicious. Every time, she couldn't help but eat more than she should.
But to admit it? No way!
As Gu Xingyi looked at the approaching Yang Chenglin, he scratched his head. The company had just started, and he had only reached out to Yang Xian to ask for a collaboration—just to borrow a couple of people to hold down the fort.
He had expected Cheng Di to come, but Yang Chenglin? He hadn't imagined that at all.
This onee-san already wore many hats at her own company, so how did she even have the time to show up at this little start-up of his?
When they first arrived, they gave Gu Xingyi quite a scare. But in hindsight, it was a good thing Yang Chenglin came. She had helped resolve quite a few issues for the company. At the very least, the HR side had been completely worry-free for him and his team.
"Deputy Director Yang, how did Yinhai Entertainment even let you out?"
As they walked toward the break room, Gu Xingyi asked curiously.
Yang Chenglin kept her eyes forward and didn't glance at him.
"Director Zhang is in charge of HR. I'm just the deputy. Isn't it normal for me to help out? As for Douyin's side, it doesn't matter where I work."
Then she suddenly turned her head and glanced at Gu Xingyi.
"What? Not happy to have me here?"
"Of course I'm happy! Very happy! You're like a pillar of our company now! How could I not welcome you?"
Gu Xingyi hurriedly said. They were short on staff—if she wanted to leave, she'd have to dream on!
"Then from now on, don't call me Deputy Director Yang. Call me Lin-jie! I'm older than you!"
Yang Chenglin looked straight at Gu Xingyi as she spoke, clearly taking advantage of him.
Climbing all over me now, huh? Gu Xingyi felt his fists clenching.
Seeing his face twist in frustration, Xia Xiyao and Cheng Di couldn't help but chuckle. They hadn't seen Gu Xingyi so flustered before.
"Alright! You're older, you're amazing! Lin-jie! Satisfied now?"
A true man knows when to yield and when to stand tall—Gu Xingyi's expression instantly calmed down.
Now it was Yang Chenglin's turn to feel a little annoyed. She had the distinct feeling that this brat Gu Xingyi was mocking her.
The group chatted and laughed as they walked into the break room. Since the company had just been founded and only had a few people, with its future still uncertain, there weren't many rules in place yet.
This break room was exclusively for Xia Xiyao. The layout, furniture, and all related details were modeled after the one from Yinhai Entertainment—something both Xia Xiyao and Tao Lele had insisted on.
Well, it was really Tao Lele's idea. Back at Yinhai, she hardly ever used the break room. But now that she was in their own company, she was fully prepared to hang out here often!
The moment they entered, Tao Lele threw herself onto the big sofa she had been dreaming about, grinning with pure joy.
Xia Xiyao and Cheng Di also sat down. The two of them looked just like sisters as they chatted about music.
"By the way! Xiyao and I discussed it and decided you really need a secretary. You're the chairman of a company now—you can't do everything yourself. You need someone to help you out."
Gu Xingyi had just settled into the sofa when Yang Chenglin, sitting across from him, brought it up again.
A secretary? Honestly, Gu Xingyi hadn't thought about that before. But the moment she said it, an image popped into his head—tall, in black stockings, a smart and elegant beauty in office attire.
He quickly shook his head to banish the unrealistic mental image.
"The company's just getting started, and there's not much going on yet. Maybe… we don't need one just now?"
But his expression didn't escape Yang Chenglin's notice. She casually crossed her legs and narrowed her eyes with a smirk.
"What were you thinking about just now? Tell us—share it with Xiyao."
Gu Xingyi suddenly felt guilty. He stole a glance at Xia Xiyao—thankfully, that airhead was still happily chatting with Cheng Di, completely unaware of their conversation.
Not his fault though, right? Come on, who doesn't think of that kind of secretary at first?
"I wasn't thinking anything! Don't go around slandering good people!"
Of course, Gu Xingyi wouldn't admit it and put on his most serious expression.
Yang Chenglin snorted, letting it slide, then continued, "Neither you nor Xiyao have time to manage the company, and honestly, you're not good at it either. Hiring a professional to help is really necessary. Of course, whoever you hire has to be trustworthy. Rather than a secretary, it's more like an assistant."
Gu Xingyi nodded at that. When it came to management, he really was out of his depth.
"But there's no rush. Let's talk about it later. The company hasn't even officially started operating—it's still too early for that."
"Oh, right—two singers will be coming by soon. They're really good. I picked them up off the street. Talk to them and offer the best deal you can. Get them signed, so my wife isn't the only one holding down the fort."
He was referring, of course, to Feng Xiaoxiao and Yi Shuihan—those two brothers. As the first artists to potentially sign with the company, Gu Xingyi had high hopes for them. In his mind, they would be Xingyao Entertainment's dynamic duo, the hip-hop gods of the future!
Yang Chenglin's eyes widened in disbelief. Most people scouted singers from other agencies or at least found up-and-coming talents online. But Gu Xingyi?
He picked them up off the street.
Since when were singers something you could just "pick up"? How come she didn't know that?
