Transmigration: A Plan to Save My Lovely Wife and Adorable Child
Chapter 097 – First Day of Kindergarten
Early the next morning.
Gu Xingyi and Xia Xiyao got up bright and early. Like all first-time parents sending their child to school, they were flustered and all over the place.
"Hey~ Wifey, don’t stuff the princess house in there! Nainai won’t be able to carry it!"
"Bring the doll, that one’s light..."
"...Nainai will be back this afternoon, there’s no need to pack so many snacks. They're for the other kids? Alright then."
Yesterday, the two of them had picked out a cute little cartoon backpack for Xiao Nainai. Now, that tiny backpack was already stuffed to the brim by Xia Xiyao, and even so, she still wasn’t satisfied. She stood there frowning, staring at the pile of things on the table in distress.
Standing to the side, Gu Xingyi couldn’t help but feel a headache coming on. He thought Xia Xiyao was really overdoing it. Nainai was just going to school, not celebrating New Year!
After another round of bustling around, they finally roused the still-sleepy Nainai to eat breakfast.
The little one’s eyes weren’t even fully open yet. She passively let Gu Xingyi brush her teeth and Xia Xiyao do her hair.
Even by the time she sat down at the dining table, her little head was still nodding off.
After breakfast.
Gu Xingyi and Xia Xiyao changed into proper outfits. One carried Nainai, the other carried her little backpack, and they hurried out the door.
It was already 7:40, and school started at 8:00.
When Gu Xingyi parked the car next to the kindergarten and they got out, the scene at Jianghua Kindergarten was completely different from what he’d seen during his last visit.
In the morning sunlight, the area in front of the kindergarten was bustling with activity. Parents were everywhere, escorting their kids to school. Even inside the kindergarten, colorful flags fluttered in the air, a picture of vibrant liveliness.
The sight made Gu Xingyi feel a bit dazed. From the time he transmigrated in July to now—September 1st—barely two months had passed, and yet he felt like he had already fully blended in here… even into the role of a father.
By this time, Xiao Nainai had fully woken up. Nestled in Xia Xiyao’s arms, she curiously observed the other kids at the gate, many of them bawling and making a fuss.
In her heart, those kids her age were not well-behaved!
Because Papa had told her: kids who don’t cry when going to school are the good kids!
Gu Xingyi and Xia Xiyao paused only briefly before joining the crowd of parents heading into the kindergarten, carrying Nainai along with them.
Inside, the teachers were welcoming the parents and children of each class. Gu Xingyi hadn’t walked far when he spotted Su Ling and Liu Dan, both greeting families with warm smiles.
Su Ling was in the middle of chatting with a parent when she turned and saw Gu Xingyi and Xia Xiyao approaching with little Nainai.
She quickly spoke to Liu Dan beside her, who continued greeting parents, and Su Ling rushed over to meet them.
"Xingyao Papa, Xingyao Mama, you’re here! Come this way—once all the parents and kids have arrived, we’ll head to the classroom together."
This time, Su Ling even changed how she addressed them—from calling him Mr. Gu to calling them Xingyao Papa and Xingyao Mama. That marked Nainai’s official start as a student at this kindergarten.
Gu Xingyi nodded and followed Su Ling into the group of parents from Class 3.
Nearby parents greeted them kindly. A few, upon recognizing who they were, showed a flicker of surprise before smiling warmly—clearly, they had recognized the couple.
To think their kid was in the same class as the child of two celebrities—Gu Xingyi and Xia Xiyao, who had been at the center of so much attention lately! They were definitely going to brag about this to friends and family later.
Before long, all the families had arrived. Su Ling and Liu Dan led the way, and the group of parents and children made their way grandly toward the Class 3 classroom.
Upon arriving in the classroom, the children all sat on their little stools, while the parents were guided to take seats in the back.
Su Ling and Liu Dan stood at the front, smiling warmly as they introduced themselves.
“Hello, little ones. I’m Su Ling. From now on, I’ll be your teacher here at kindergarten. You can call me Su-laoshi.”
“Hello, everyone. I’m Liu Dan. You can call me Liu-laoshi.”
The children sitting on the little stools clearly weren’t listening very seriously. They fidgeted in their seats—some even got up and ran back into their mama’s arms, only to be awkwardly carried back by their parents to sit down again.
But Xiao Nainai was being very well-behaved. She sat on her little stool, legs swinging, big eyes blinking as she looked up at the two teachers on stage.
Then, Gu Xingyi noticed a chubby little boy sitting beside Nainai suddenly turn his head and look at her.
“I’ve seen you before! You came out of a phone, didn’t you?!”
Nainai beamed with pride when she heard that.
“Yup! My papa is super amazing! He can put me inside a phone!”
The chubby boy pouted after hearing that and turned his head to glare at his own papa, seemingly upset that his papa couldn’t put him into a phone.
But he quickly turned his chubby face back around, raised his little head, and declared proudly:
“Well, my papa is awesome too! He can make yummy food! And he eats a lot!”
“My papa eats a lot too!”
“My papa can eat a whole pig!”
For some reason, the two little ones suddenly started arguing about that topic. Gu Xingyi listened with amusement, and even some of the other parents couldn’t help but turn their attention toward the two of them.
Then they heard the chubby boy shout loudly:
“My papa can eat poop!”
Among the parents, a chubby man’s smiling face instantly froze. The beautiful woman next to him covered her mouth, trying not to laugh. Gu Xingyi’s heart nearly leapt out of his chest—he was terrified that Nainai might fire back with something even more outrageous.
Thankfully, Xiao Nainai didn’t. Tilting her little head, she thought about it seriously, then said with slight regret:
“Wow, your papa is amazing! My papa can’t do that!”
Whew~
Gu Xingyi let out a long sigh of relief and smiled with deep satisfaction. She really was his sweet little cotton-padded jacket—top-tier insulation!
Xia Xiyao also quietly laughed to herself. She had seen how Gu Xingyi had just been so nervous he almost stood up!
Up on stage, Su Ling and Liu Dan continued trying to interact with the kids. When the welcome ceremony finally began, the two teachers sighed in relief. This time of year was always the most exhausting for them.
The welcome ceremony was a special tradition at Jianghua Kindergarten to greet every batch of new students. It was held on the kindergarten’s green artificial turf.
Parents mostly watched from the sidelines, while the teachers led the children in various games to help them quickly get to know one another.
There were also class-by-class performances of children’s songs.
When Su Ling and Liu Dan led Class 3 in singing Two Tigers, the other class teachers were still busy trying to teach their students the lyrics.
Many of the other teachers turned their heads toward Class 3, listening to the chorus of clearly sung lyrics with envy in their eyes. They wished they also had such a simple and catchy song to quickly teach their kids!
Standing beside Gu Xingyi, Xia Xiyao smiled brightly as she watched Nainai sing together with the other children.
Then she turned her head and looked at Gu Xingyi’s profile, her almond-shaped eyes brimming with warmth.
