Chapter 080 – Home Visit

The results of the re-vote were clear—Xia Xiyao successfully advanced.

Ren Chao finally let out a sigh of relief. Next, he still had to recruit two new mentors, but luckily, since Wang Bing and Ran Xiaoxiao had violated their contracts on their own, he didn’t need to waste more energy on that.

The rollercoaster of a competition had ended, but the public outrage online was just getting started.

Angry netizens directly stormed the social media account of the entertainment company behind Ran Xiaoxiao and Wang Bing, demanding to know how they planned to deal with such morally compromised artists.

As for the root of the whole mess—Yin Ping—Yinhai Entertainment’s social media had already been bombarded before anyone else’s.

Not long after the competition ended, Yinhai Entertainment finally released an official response and issued a public apology:

A Letter of Apology to All Netizens and to Xia Xiyao

Due to lapses in our internal management system, our former Head of Operations, Yin Ping, took advantage of his position and caused serious unfair treatment toward our artist Xia Xiyao during the StarSong Gathering competition.

This also resulted in a poor viewing experience for the wider audience.

Following a board meeting, the company has decided to terminate Yin Ping’s employment effective immediately. He will also be permanently blacklisted from rehire.

Lastly, we want to reaffirm that Yinhai Entertainment operates under principles of fairness and integrity. We will never tolerate any form of fraud or deception. We invite all netizens to continue monitoring our actions and supporting us in creating a healthy and stable entertainment environment.

Shortly after Yinhai Entertainment’s statement, the company managing Ran Xiaoxiao and Wang Bing also made public announcements.

Both apologized to the public and to Xia Xiyao, vowing never to allow such incidents to happen again.

The moment those statements were released, everyone knew—it was the end of both of their careers.

Thanks to those formal apologies, the heat surrounding the scandal finally began to subside. All netizens wanted was a proper resolution. Now that justice had been served, they were satisfied and began to move on.

However, as a result of this whole incident, Sea of Flowers completely blew up. Even people who previously paid little attention to StarSong Gathering now knew about the song.

In just one night, Sea of Flowers surpassed the total play count of all previous songs, even pushing The Wind Rises down to second place.

Right now online, Gu Xingyi’s songs were in a league of their own. Their play counts left all other songs in the dust—and that’s with the fact that none of them had officially launched on streaming platforms yet, and were still circulating in low-quality versions.

It was easy to imagine the craze that would erupt once StarSong Gathering ended and Xia Xiyao’s album was officially released.

At present, Gu Xingyi only had one officially released song—Only Ordinary—which had already claimed the number one spot on Huayin’s new song chart, leaving other artists in the dust.

Everyone was amazed—this man who didn’t even belong to the entertainment industry had forcibly lifted Hua country’s music scene to a whole new level.

As for the online storm, Gu Xingyi didn’t care in the slightest. Right now, he was dealing with something far more important to him—

Xiao Nainai’s kindergarten teacher was coming for a home visit!

The next morning, Gu Xingyi got up early and cleaned the house from top to bottom. He even laid out fresh fruit on the coffee table.

For the next three years, these two teachers would be responsible for guiding Xiao Nainai, so he took this visit very seriously!

At nine in the morning sharp, Gu Xingyi brought Xiao Nainai downstairs to wait for the teachers.

Not long after, two female teachers wearing matching uniforms walked toward them. They immediately recognized Xiao Nainai waiting downstairs.

With a warm smile on his face, Gu Xingyi quickly stepped forward and shook hands with them.

“Hello, hello, thank you for going to all this trouble!”

The two female teachers—one young, about twenty years old, and the other older, around forty—both had polite manners and warm, gentle smiles on their faces.

That kind of smile naturally made people feel a sense of warmth and kindness.

“Hello, Mr. Gu, I’m Su Ling. I’m one of the teachers for Class Three at Jianghua Kindergarten. And—I’m a fan of yours!”

The younger teacher, Su Ling, introduced herself cheerfully, her dimples showing as she smiled brightly at Gu Xingyi.

The older teacher followed right after, saying, “Hello, I’m Liu Dan, also a teacher for Class Three at Jianghua Kindergarten. I’m not like Su Ling though—I’m a fan of Xiao Nainai!”

After speaking, Liu Dan crouched down and gently ruffled Xiao Nainai’s hair, her expression full of affection.

Surprisingly, Xiao Nainai didn’t show her usual shyness. She lifted her little face and looked attentively at this very kind-looking teacher.

Gu Xingyi scratched his head and gave a goofy smile.

Why does this feel like a fan meeting...?

“It’s hot out here, teachers. Please come inside,” he said.

With that, Gu Xingyi took the lead, guiding the two teachers upstairs with Xiao Nainai beside him. The group soon arrived at his apartment.

After inviting the teachers to sit on the sofa, Su Ling and Liu Dan pulled out their notebooks and pens and began asking some basic questions about Xiao Nainai.

Gu Xingyi sat across from them, looking like a schoolkid as he answered each question seriously.

“Mr. Gu, may I ask who usually takes care of the child? And who will be in charge of drop-off and pick-up for school?”

Su Ling asked with a subtle smile, amused by how bashful Gu Xingyi looked. She hadn’t expected the famous Gu Xingyi to be this easygoing and down-to-earth.

“For the past two years, Nainai was mostly taken care of by her mama, but recently she’s been really busy with work, so I’ve been the one looking after her. When school starts, I’ll be the one doing the drop-off and pick-up too,” Gu Xingyi replied a little awkwardly, wondering what the two laoshi would think of a stay-at-home dad like him.

Su Ling nodded and took notes as she continued the interview.

What followed was a barrage of questions: What kind of food does she like? Is she allergic to anything? What’s her favorite cartoon? Favorite toy? Daily schedule? Personality traits? On and on...

Gu Xingyi answered each one carefully and thoroughly. At this point, he had nothing but admiration for these teachers—they really thought of everything and documented it all with such clarity.

Considering how many children they had to care for, this level of attention was truly impressive!

After finishing all the questions, the two teachers pulled small gifts from their pockets and handed them to Nainai.

Nainai looked at Gu Xingyi first. Only after he nodded did she accept the gifts and politely say thank you.

Su Ling and Liu Dan clearly adored Xiao Nainai. They crouched down again to chat with her face-to-face.

To them, Nainai was well-behaved, polite, and adorable—with looks to match. She practically melted their hearts.

After a bit more interaction with her, the two teachers finally returned to the sofa, smiling from ear to ear.

“Mr. Gu, does Nainai have any hobbies or interests?”

Having chatted with her for a while, they now knew her nickname as well.

“She loves singing! Nainai takes after her mama—she’s quite talented when it comes to music,” Gu Xingyi answered without even thinking.

Nainai’s love for singing and her strong sense of pitch were things he’d noticed very early on.
