Transmigration: A Plan to Save My Lovely Wife and Adorable Child
Chapter 074 – Kindergarten Enrollment Trouble
The plane landed in Jiangcheng at 11:10 AM.
Back in his long-lost home, the first thing Gu Xingyi did was thoroughly clean the place from top to bottom. Only after making lunch and eating did he finally rest.
Once they were full and satisfied, the father and daughter naturally flopped onto the sofa like always, lying flat like slugs.
It could only be said: like father, like daughter. Even Gu Xingyi didn’t know when exactly it happened, but at some point, Xiao Nainai had picked up this lounging posture from him and perfectly copied it.
Watching Xiao Nainai imitate him so faithfully, Gu Xingyi suddenly sat up straight—he had just remembered something very important.
Xiao Nainai was now three years old. It was time for her to start kindergarten!
And kindergarten started in September. That meant there was only one month left. Gu Xingyi had to find a school and get her enrolled as soon as possible.
Thinking of that, he turned to look at Xiao Nainai, who was now also sitting upright on the sofa.
“Nainai, do you know what kindergarten is?”
Nainai blinked her big eyes and thought hard for a moment. Then she nodded to Gu Xingyi.
“Yup! Kindergarten is a place with lots and lots of kids. Nainai saw it on TV~”
Smiling, Gu Xingyi patted the little one’s head.
“Nainai is so smart! So, does Nainai want to go to kindergarten?”
This time, Nainai didn’t answer right away. She furrowed her tiny brows and thought for a long while, her big eyes fixed on Gu Xingyi the whole time.
Just when he was about to assume she was totally against the idea, she finally spoke.
“Nainai wants to go... but Nainai doesn’t want to leave Daddy.”
Gu Xingyi looked seriously at her, then scooped her into his arms.
“Even if you go to kindergarten, you’ll still see Daddy every day~ Daddy will take you to school and pick you up afterward. There’ll be lots of kids to play with, and laoshi will teach Nainai songs. If you behave, you’ll even get little red stars!”
He spoke patiently.
Most of Nainai’s personality and habits now came from how he and Xia Xiyao had raised her.
But Gu Xingyi knew very well—after all, he’d never received any formal training in early childhood education. He couldn’t compare with real teachers at school.
After listening to him, Nainai finally nodded her tiny head.
“Then Nainai wants to go to kindergarten!”
“Great! Then Daddy will find a really good kindergarten for Nainai!”
Gu Xingyi smiled, patted her on the head, set her back down on the sofa, then picked up his phone and began searching for nearby kindergartens.
And that’s when he discovered—
kindergarten registration had already ended…
It had closed in July. Scratching his head, Gu Xingyi muttered to himself, now what? At that time, he hadn’t even transmigrated over yet, and the original body’s scumbag self hadn’t given this any thought at all.
With no other choice, Gu Xingyi kept searching online to find which nearby kindergartens were still good.
Eventually, he settled on one close by called Jianghua Kindergarten. The reviews online were excellent, and it had a strong reputation—especially among parents, who praised it highly.
With a nervous heart, Gu Xingyi gathered all the necessary documents, brought Nainai along, and took a bus to Jianghua Kindergarten.
It really wasn’t far from where they lived—just a little over ten minutes by bus. As soon as they got off, Gu Xingyi rushed to ask the security guard at the gate, and soon found his way to the admissions office.
Inside, there were only two female staff members, both around forty years old, chatting away.
Gu Xingyi knocked on the door, and both of them turned their heads at the same time to look at him.
One of them immediately stood up and politely asked, “Hello, is there something we can help you with?”
The other one stared at Gu Xingyi’s face with a slight frown. She had this nagging feeling that he looked familiar, but couldn’t quite place where she’d seen him before.
At that moment, Xiao Nainai was still a little shy around strangers, clinging to Gu Xingyi’s thigh and hiding behind him.
Gu Xingyi returned the greeting politely, looking a bit embarrassed.
“Hello, it’s like this—due to my own negligence, I forgot to register my daughter for kindergarten in June. She’s already three years old this year. I was wondering if your school still has any spots available?”
The woman who had stood up shook her head. She had seen plenty of careless parents like this before.
Let alone a well-reputed kindergarten like Jianghua, at this point, even regular kindergartens probably didn’t have any openings left. Although every school usually reserves a few special slots for emergencies, it was clear to her that Gu Xingyi wasn’t on that list.
“I’m sorry, Mr. Gu. We’re already at full capacity.”
She expressed her regret to Gu Xingyi.
Gu Xingyi looked disappointed upon hearing that. Behind him, Xiao Nainai poked her little head out, her big eyes blinking curiously as she looked around. She had only ever seen this place on TV before, so everything here was new and fascinating to her.
“!!! Xingyao! Are you Xingyao the little princess?!”
The staff member who had been sitting suddenly exclaimed when she saw Xiao Nainai, her excitement plain as day in her tone.
She had felt that Gu Xingyi’s face looked familiar earlier, but hadn’t been able to recall where from—until she saw Nainai. Then it clicked instantly.
She had a son, and both she and her son were fans of Nainai. She was one of Nainai’s mama-fans!
The staff member who had been standing was stunned for a moment when she heard this, murmuring under her breath.
“Xing... Xingyao?”
Then she looked over at the tiny Xiao Nainai, and her eyes lit up too. As mothers, they weren’t too familiar with Gu Xingyi, but they knew all about Gu Xingyao!
“It really is Xingyao the little princess! Oh my goodness! She’s just as cute in person as she is online!”
Even Gu Xingyi was startled by their sudden outburst. Scratching his head, he realized these two were Nainai’s fans.
He was fairly familiar with Nainai’s mama-fans from online. They all called her “Xingyao the little princess.”
Seeing the way their eyes sparkled as they looked at her and hearing them call her by name, Nainai first glanced timidly at Gu Xingyi. After receiving an encouraging look from him, she finally stepped out from behind him.
“H-hello, aunties~”
This was something Gu Xingyi had taught her—when you see someone, you should greet them properly.
“H-hi! Come here, let me touch you—oh my gosh, I can’t believe I’m actually seeing the real Xingyao the little princess! I’m so happy!”
Both of them crouched down—one gently patted Nainai’s hair, the other playfully pinched her cheeks, making Nainai frown her pretty little brows.
Then, one of them suddenly looked up.
“Mr. Gu, would you mind waiting here for a moment? I’d like to give our principal a call. I think our principal would be more than happy to have Gu Xingyao attend our school!”
Was something this good really happening?
Gu Xingyi quickly nodded. He couldn’t help but marvel—so Nainai was this amazing? Her mama-fans were even more passionate than fans of regular celebrities.
After that, one of the staff members hurried off to the side to call the principal, while the other stayed behind to continue doting on Nainai, clearly unable to get enough of her.
As for Gu Xingyi, he had become completely irrelevant to the scene.
